Sony releases ICS beta ROM for Xperia PLAY

For some time now Sony has announced that its console / smartphone Xperia Play  would be passed to Android 4.0 , but until now had not been particularly accurate news spread. Finally came the first beta of the update directly from the developer site asking users to send feedback and test the ROM waiting for the official launch which should not be waiting too.

In particular, developers will be asking to verify how the games, whether they resolve problems of execution, system crashes and so on to optimize the new Android distribution.
Within the page to download the ROM you will also find a short guide that will help you to finish the process of upgrading to this first beta of Android Ice Cream Sandwich for Xperia Play .

Windows Metro Style Android User Interface

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners who would like to bring a little more of a Windows feel to their Android tablet-top. Might be interested in this new user interface that has been created for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus Transformer tablets.
The Metro Android theme brings the look and feel of Microsoft’s Metro user interface theme to the tablet. The latest  Metro Android theme has been created by XDA Developers user BroBot175 and can be viewed in action after the jump.
The Metro Android theme is currently in its beta launch version and supports Android tablets running Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich (ICS) operating system.
“Metro UI is based on the new look of windows 8 and bits of windows phone. i have tried to style it as i think it should look on our tabs so it is not an exact replica of windows 8.”

Samsung Galaxy SII Ice Cream Sandwich update - when will I get it?

Now Samsung has confirmed the Samsung Galaxy S2 Ice Cream Sandwich android update is landing next week, here's our constantly updated hub of all information for the next level of Android on your flagship Samsung phone.
The issue with Android updates is the method is so staggered, leading to consumers getting angry at the length of time it takes them to get the next generation of program.
One time Google throws out the source code to the manufacturers, it is up to them to divert resources to combining the latest version of Android with their hardware- this can take longer if there is a skin walking atop the OS, as is the case with the Galaxy S2.
& one time that is complete, the likes of Vodafone & O2 then must make sure there's no issues with the new firmware walking with their networks- it may sound trivial, but you don't need something like this happening - so check below to see how long you'll be likely to wait for the next generation program to land on your Galaxy S2.
Update: It looks like you need to plug your Galaxy S2 in to your computer & access the new Ice Cream Sandwich update by Kies. The update won't show up in the Settings > About phone > Program update > Update option on the handset.

New Windows 8 reportedly set for October debut

Microsoft reportedly will finish work on new Windows 8 by summer, setting the stage to launch the next version of its flagship operating system sometime around October.
Bloomberg, citing "people with knowledge of the schedule," also reports that there will be fewer than five devices running the ARM system on a chip architecture at launch. Those ARM chips allow for thinner, lighter tablet devices, something that Microsoft hopes will help it cut into Apple's iPad's huge lead in the tablet market. The Cupertino rival just disclosed that it sold more than three million of its latest iPad since the third-generation gadget debuted Friday.
The report confirms the timing that most analysts have been expecting. Bloomberg notes that Microsoft will lay out the details of the release schedule at an industry event in early April.
A Microsoft spokeswoman declined comment on the report.
Last month, Microsoft said it planned to launch a version of Windows 8 on ARM chips at the same time it launched Windows for the x86 chips that power traditional PCs. In a blog post at the time, Windows President Steven Sinofsky said "Our collective goal is for PC makers to ship [Windows on ARM devices] the same time" as more conventional Windows PCs debut.

New Samsung Galaxy S3 launch date set for May?

We may have just learned the new  cell phone Samsung Galaxy S3 launch date thanks to a new image which has made its way onto the web.
Thanks to the photo which was posted on the social news website Reddit, the new Samsung S3 is set for a May 22 release, in London.
The surprisingly official-looking leaked press image reveals the potentially new style Samsung may follow with the Galaxy S3, with the front of the device sporting a two-tone white and grey design.

The Amazing thing is that: Galaxy S3 can also predict the weather

As with the many other leaks regarding the Samsung Galaxy S3, this latest development is by no means a sure thing.
The handset in the image seems to be missing the two additional navigation keys either side of the physical button on the front of the device  vital for navigating round Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
There is also the hint that a dedicated camera button will be located on the right hand side of the Galaxy S3 and the side-profile reveals a super slim handset.
It will be interesting to see if the weather prediction shown on the screen is correct – 21 degrees and sunny, followed by five more days of glorious sunshine and mild temperatures. Roll on 22 May 2012.

Best screen protectors for iPad 3

The new iPad's glass screen is tough and scratch-resistant, but a lot of people still choose to buy a screen protector to be safe and made your iPad scratchless .
The truth is, I do not know how necessary screen protectors really are and many do not help with glare quite as much as they promise. They also have a tendency to reduce the crispness you see in the iPad's new Retina display, which is probably their biggest flaw (this wasn't as much of an issue with the iPad 2).
That last serious caveat aside, some screen protectors are better than others and only a few are really worth your consideration.

New iPad with Retina Display a boost for MLB sluggers

Major League Baseball players and coaches are eager to get their hands on Apple's new iPad, claiming the clearer Retina Display will help them 'break down the mechanics' of the game.
The verdict comes from Cincinnati Reds manager of video scouting Rob Coughlin, who says that the majority of MLB players already use an iPad to study footage of their opponents.
Coughlin says the improved detail on the latest iPad's 2048 x 1536 screen will be an even bigger aid in helping hitters pick-out breaking balls, curve balls and and more.

Clubhouse favourite

He said: "Look around the clubhouse. Just about every single (player) has an iPad they can use to prepare for a game."
"With the '3,' now you're going to be able to see the grip on the baseball, perhaps even the rotation of the baseball and be able to (better) break down mechanics.
"A decade ago (the latest) was VHS tapes, then the quality of video improved when everything went digital. Now, the next step is getting everything in high definition. The clearer the picture, the clearer you can see what the pitcher is trying to do."

Has the Galaxy Note Android Ice Cream Sandwich update been delayed?

Owners of the Galaxy Note, Samsung's tablet/smartphone hybrid, who are waiting for an Ice Cream Sandwich update for their gizmo ought to get ready for disappointment, as there is a chance it's been delayed.
News that the Galaxy Note would be receiving Ice Cream Sandwich broke in December last year, and at the time it was given a first quarter 2012 release window. When the Galaxy S II's Android four.0 update began rolling out earlier this week, Samsung took the chance to say the Note's ICS update would "follow soon"
However, on the exact same day, a conversation took place on Samsung's official Facebook page in Norway which cast doubt on whether the update would appear before the finish of the month.
Responding to a query about when the Note would get its update, Samsung's Norwegian spokesperson answered that it would be in the work of the second quarter of the year, placing it between the beginning of April and the finish of June.

While there is a chance this is only relevant to Note owners in Norway, a post on the same portal made in late January said the update would be coming towards the finish of the first quarter, so it does go against historicallyin the past reported dates for that country .
On the other hand, Samsung's international portals have a history of speaking out of line, forcing the Korean company to take to its Twitter account to set everybody straight. At the time of writing, a post telling us all application update news will come from @samsungtomorrow has yet to appear, but that does not mean it is not coming.
Samsung has weeks to deliver Ice Cream Sandwich to the Note to meet its self-imposed deadline. Will they succeed, or is this going to be the beginning of another lengthy ICS update saga for the manufacturer?

How to Upgrade your Computer to Windows 8

This is an upgrade so you'll be overwriting your current version of Windows but before you make the leap, note that your existing program programs will only be preserved in the event you are moving from Windows 7 to Windows 8. If your PC is jogging Windows XP or Vista, all of your files & information will be preserved but you won't be able to make use of the program apps after upgrading to Windows 8.

Let's say your existing Windows computer is jogging XP, Vista or Windows 7 & you require to upgrade to Windows 8.
Prepared? Here's how may upgrade your computer to Windows 8.

Step 1: Insert the bootable Windows 8 DVD in to your computer, switch to the DVD drive inside Windows Explorer & click two times the setup.exe file.

Step 2: Windows 8 installer will recommend that you "install updates" before proceeding with the installation. You can actually say "No thanks" and skip because, as of writing, there's no updates obtainable and hence you'll save a couple of minutes.
Step 3: Enter you Windows 8 Product key – you can use NF32V-Q9P3W-7DR7Y-JGWRW-JFCK8.
Step 4: Accept the EULA and select the part of your existing Windows setup that you like to preserve in Windows 8. You can either do a neat install and select "Nothing" or use the "Windows settings, personal files and apps" option to preserve everything.
Note that you might must reinstall positive apps after Windows 8 is installed. Also, in case you select "Nothing", your personal files (anything saved inside the User folder and on the desktop) will be moved to a windows.old folder.

Step 5: Windows 8 installer may want you to uninstall certain applications – Microsoft Security Essentials for example – before proceeding. One you have done that, restart the PC and hit the Install button. You can re-install these applications once the installation is complete. Simple!
